Cary Wasden

Director Business Advisory Services, Global Economist

Cary plays a vital role at Andina as a global economist. He publishes daily investment research and is the author and presenter of Andina’s Weekender, using his research skills to analyze the daily and weekly state of the economy, trends, and the markets. Cary uses his skills as a Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA®) to lead Andina Business Transitions Strategies, LLC DBA as Promethius, a division formed specifically to help owners prepare their businesses for exits in the near or distant future.

Cary is a founder and managing partner of the Scipio Commonwealth. He is also the director of research and principal analyst for Scipio Labyrinth, the research arm of the commonwealth. Cary attended Brigham Young University and earned a BS in Zoology and Biochemistry as well as a Master of Public Administration. He studied for his doctorate at The Ohio State University with a specialization in international finance and development. While completing his dissertation, JP Morgan engaged him as a consultant to advise on a series of IPOs in the area of his research, which led to full-time employment as a research analyst where he was ranked top analyst in the world by Institutional Investor. Over the next twenty years he continued as a research analyst and founder of a two research firms winning recognition for his and his firm’s analytical prowess. He is credited by The Economist magazine with being the analyst who originally uncovered the Enron debacle. In addition to research, Cary teaches finance at Brigham Young University and Utah Valley University.

Cary is married with six children and multiple grandchildren. In his spare time, Cary and his wife love woodworking.
